Saurabh asked:

If you want to build an online business, you must have a blog. Blogging has become the way that people find out who you are and what you do, so it is non-negotiable. After you blog for a month or to, it will become a daily activity that you can actually look forward to for the help www.bloggers-guide-to-profit.com. My blog is my home on the internet, and I am always ready to share the information I have with my readers.

There are really only two choices for your blogging platform. I use both of them, mainly because I maintain so many blogs. Type pad is an easy way to set up your blog within an hour or so, and it is hosted by Type pad. There are about two hundred different themes to choose from, or you can easily upload your own. I always recommend Type pad as a blogging platform to people you need to set up a blog quickly, without any need for specialized features.

For those who want more flexibility with their blogs, Wordpress is the way to go. There are plug-ins that make it possible to turn your blog into a search engine optimization machine, allow you to easily upload audio and video, and do more things than you ever imagined, even with a traditional website. Wordpress blogs require more technology knowledge to be set up and maintained, but you may find that you would rather learn some new things in order to have a site that is capable of so much more.

More and more people are now using blogs instead of websites, because the search engines love the fresh new content. You will be able to build your online business with your blog, and people will be able to find you easily when searching for your keywords on Google or any of the other search engines.

How blogs can hurt:

1. One small step. Negative posts can be fatal.

Blogging can open you up for many legal, liability and employment questions, problems or crises. Last year, Jim C. came to me after he had posted a rather nasty post on his Top Ten Worst Retailers in the World blog for the help www.feed-reader-links.com. His company did business with two of those retailers and as nosy or highly sensitive corporate personnel found out about his lambaste it caused a rift at the company. According to Jim, “This year for other reasons I was let go. It was not the economy. I crossed the line.”

2. Pictures tell a thousand stories.

Larry seemed to pipe up at work a lot about things that bothered him. So he decided to publish a seemingly anonymous blog. As a techy he posted hundreds of comments on political ideas, people he thought should be impeached and railed against what he considered bad taste and fashion. He did this anonymously under a lot of different names. But when he decided to take pictures at the year end Christmas party and publish captions that offended nearly everyone, he was, well, suspended without pay forever (fired).

Vojin Stanic asked:

A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are another way to spread your message and get people to see your content.

Blogging and traffic go together, and it is easy to create a blog to drive traffic to your website or any other online web page. Each time a blog is updated, an RSS feed goes out and “pings” search engines, so it’s an excellent way to stay at the top of search results. Blogs are content-rich and usually focused on one specific theme, which makes them easier for the search engine spiders to find.

It is important to update a blog frequently so as to get good traffic or regular readership. This will ultimately lead the blog to be enlisted with search engines and might also become a good source of your additional income. You can try “pay per click” advertisements, which pay you anywhere between a few pennies to a few dollars every time someone clicks on an ad. There are several choices including the extremely popular Google AdSense, Kanoodle BrightAds, Chitika and the Yahoo! Publisher Network. These ads are easy to signup for and you can run them on most blogs.

Writing blogs can be time consuming and can take time to succeed. Building credibility and trust takes time. So don’t expect that, if and when you launch a blog, that it will be an overnight success. Blogging is a form of publishing and most publications that do succeed generally take a long time to build up a sustainable readership.

One thing seems to be for sure. Blogs are here and if you are not reading them or publishing one, you are soon going to be in the minority of people who use the Internet. If you decide to start a blog, there are many free services to help you get started. Some of the most common ones include Blogger, Drupal, and Wordpress.

Rajesh Kumar Chouhan asked:

Blogs are currently all the rage in the internet marketing world. They have seen a rise in popularity so sudden and forceful that even brand names companies are getting in on the action. Movie stars, writers, television producers, and a myriad of highly respected individuals are using blogs as part of their every day lives. Starting a blog may seem like a daunting task for someone who doesn’t know much about them, but they’re really not that hard to setup. Wordpress blogs in particular are very user-friendly, and the Wordpress CMS (content management system) makes the process even more simple. The very first thing you want to do before you setup your Wordpress blog is come up with a name for it.

Naming your blog is a very important first step in the blog creation process. If your blog is going to be about a particular niche or subject, then your name should be based on that. For example, if I wanted to start a blog that promoted fishing hooks, I would come up with a catchy title such as ‘Fishing Hooks: Necessary or Unnecessary?’, and then design my content around that phrase. You’ll also need to choose a website address. If you’re signing up for a free blog on Word press, then the title will be something like ‘fishing hooks word press’. If you’re using the Wordpress software for your own website, then you’ll have to check for the available domains and use something that you think is fitting to your niche.

After you’ve come up with a name, you’ll need to pick a template (called a ‘theme’ in the Wordpress blogs universe) for your blog. Wordpress has many free and professional-looking templates for you to choose from from it’s main website. If you’re looking for something more original though, for more details visit to www.your-own-blog.com or a template that no one’s used before, looking for a designer who develops templates or a website that sells pre-made templates to budding bloggers would be your best bet. Once you have the code for your template implemented and setup, you’ll then need to configure the necessary widgets that you want displayed on your blog.

Widgets are a big feature of the Wordpress CMS that allow you to do stuff like add different pages (e.g. Home, About, Contact, etc.), or content to your blog. Some of the content widgets include del.icio.us, Flickr, and Meebo, among other things. You can also add a calendar, links, a search feature, or an RSS feed button to your blog. Utilizing these widgets on your Wordpress blogs will give them a slight step up from other barren, mundane blogs out there. People like to be able to mess around with the content and features of the blogs they visit, and yours will not be an exception to that rule. If you want to know how to start a blog, for more details visit to www.blog-and-ping.com keeping your potential visitors in mind at all times is something that you should start doing immediately.

These are pretty much the main things that you have to do to start posting on your Wordpress blogs, and start making money (if that’s your goal). Most people think that creating the content for their blog is the first step, but as I’ve shown in this article, there’s a lot of pre-foundational work that has to be done before you can get your blog out into the world. From naming your blog, to choosing how it will look, to choosing what kind of interactive features you want on it, it all goes towards teaching you how to start a blog. If you want to start learning more about Wordpress blogs, then you’ve already taken a step in the right direction by reading this article.

Priyanka Kapil asked:

Weblogs or blogs are so popular. They become the source of not only to express views but also to earn money on line. In the world of blogging for profits, blog content and blog traffic are the two reigning kings. If you put good content on your blog and get people visiting it you’ll make money, guaranteed.

So when you go about making your blog, you should first think about what your going to sale and what content you should put on your blog to entice people who might be interested in it to pay your blog a visit. Without traffic you won’t make any money so it’s very important that you have good content on your blog to bring people to it.

After you’ve decided on the content of your blog, the next step is to start making blog post to fill your blog up with quality content. Once a day, you should make a new post to your blog. And every time you submit a new blog post to your blog, submit that article to article directories with a link back to your blog.

When it comes to producing good quality blogs this is where WordPress shines. Yes there are various different types of blogging platforms available for you to use, but WordPress is the easiest of them all to use and understand. Although, it must be said that Blogger follows a very close second behind it. But the author of WordPress Goldmine as the name recommended has used the one that is rated first of all blogging platforms.

When it comes to setting up a blog using WordPress you will find that whole process very simple and easy to complete. But first you must register with the site and once this is done then you can start building your first ever blog with them. In fact building the blogs will cost you nothing and will only take a few minutes for you to complete and then all you need to do is start adding more information to it once it is up and running.

Tips to Create Money through your Blog

1. You need to decide on what niche topic your blog empire should go for. It has to be a more general subject where you can use sub categories for your blogs. And of course, it has to be a hot niche topic that everybody is interested in. Go to ClickBank for this kind of information. And by the way, Internet Marketing is always a profitable main category to go for.

2. Start with about 5 blogs at Blogspost and WordPress. Search engines love this ones.

3. Post some great, useful information about your topics on your blogs at least every second day. This is important for the search engines to be able to notice your blogs. Google for ideas by typing in keywords related to your topics and use the results for your articles.

4. Place affiliate links into each of your posts and at the end of your articles. These links should be related to your blog theme. Also place links at the side of your blogs. Go to ClickBank and find yourself some great affiliate programs that relate to your topics and sign up as an affiliate. It’s easy. Just go by the step-by-step instructions.

These affiliate links will enable you to blog your way to riches.

Tips for Getting Internet Traffic to Your Blog

Free RSS Feed

Rich Site Summary also known as Really Simple Syndication is the process of delivering constantly updated content to your blog by pacing a block of code (known as a feed) on your webpages. In our fast paced information age, RSS fits absolutely. It allows your visitors to stay up to date on any new information you’ve added to your blog without necessarily having to visit every page on your blog. Instead they view a window that list the headlines followed by a quick summary of what each article is about.

Having a free RSS feed accomplishes two things besides getting more site traffic. First since the content is updated frequently it keeps the search engines coming back to your site and crawling for the new information. Second it can increase your visibility among your blog visitors. This is important because while they may not visit your blog everyday, providing a feed to your subscribers is a good way to for them to stay in touch.

Network

A blog network is a compilation of blogs under a sole domain or company name. Some web visitors take comfort in clicking a link that takes them to different bloggers who cover the same topic. This is also an excellent way to get free advertisement and free web traffic to your site since people who visit the network will invariably be exposed to your blog.

Email Marketing List

In a recent survey, 100% of online users say they communicate using email. This is a good way to send messages to your opt in email list with links going back to your blog web site. Let them know you’ve posted a new article or video on your blog. Use snippets or summaries to entice people to click on the link and get further information. The more times people on your list see your blog the more they will get to know you and give a second look to some products or services you maybe offering. If you can drive good amount of traffic to your blog, you’re a good blogger and you can make money out of it. Besides that, if advertisers find your blog right for their marketing campaign, they will immediately contact you and request to advertise on your blogs. That way you’ll be earning regular amount of money.

It’s not that difficult. Just make use of the resources you can find on the Internet and you can begin your business blogging career the soonest.

Meka McSpadden asked:

Starting a new blog might seem like a very simple idea. After all, anyone with a little determination and basic internet experience can establish and manage a blog. There are dozens of websites all dedicated to promoting free blogging platforms but when many of these businesses are trying to encourage new users to sign up they rarely tell you any of the downsides.

Establishing a blog is more than just answering a few questions on a sign up forms and starting write. Setting up a blog is establishing an extremely personalized web presence that requires some patience and knowledge of using FTP. If you are someone that is interested in trying out Wordpress this free blogging platform can be installed on your own domain. Wordpress boasts that all users can install the platform in five minutes but this is not always the case.

While many new hosting companies offer “one-click” install options that really will install the blogging platform in five minutes not all users have web hosts that offer this perk. Many new users will have to manually install all of the php files needed to run Wordpress. This can be a challenge to anyone that is not used to installing programs. Before tackling a manual installation talk to someone from your web hosting company to double check that they do not offer a one-click install. You do not want to labor for hours only to discover the one click install option after you have done all of the grunt work.

Once you have installed Wordpress you must take the time to pick out a good theme. Your theme is going to give all users their very first impression of your new weblog. Having a very plain theme or overly busy theme can create the incorrect impression of your blog. Also, when you are choosing a theme you must think of more than just aesthetics. After you have gotten used to dealing with one sort of theme it might be very hard to switch over to a different theme style.

When starting your blog keep in mind that not all search engine optimization tools can be used with blogging platforms. Many traffic analysis services will not work well with weblogs that are hosted on free sites or are on platforms like blogger. There are search engine optimization tools that have been made specifically for Wordpress and other blogging platforms but these tools usually only work with blogs that are hosted on their own domains with premium web hosts.

Do not let these things discourage you and keep you from becoming a successful blogger. It is extremely likely that you will be able to set up your own profitable blog but keep in mind that you will have to invest time and effort in order to properly promote your blog to the right audience. Developers are constantly creating more tools to help bloggers make their blogs search engine friendly so that your blog audience can be increased.

Sukhbeer Singh asked:

Blogging is a lucrative source of profit and blogs are easy to set up and maintain. Imagine a life where you are paid to write on stuff that interests you, whenever you want, wherever you are. The mere flexibility of blogging makes it easy for you to just kick back, relax and go on a vacation whenever you feel like it.

In this article, we are going to look into the profitability of a blog and set up a blog of our own at no cost! Interested? Read on!

First, we need to obtain a blog. There are several options – host a blog on your own domain or get a free blog. For starters, let’s talk about the free blogs. You can obtain a free blog at www.blogger.com or the newer (and better!) www.atoz-about-rss.com. If you are a techie, you must have heard of Wordpress, a free blog engine that is robust and infinitely expandable.

Blogger.com is actually owned by Google, so it will be detected on Google’s radar faster and you will be indexed faster. Wordpress.com, however, is a relatively new option so I have no comparison on the speed of getting indexed by search engines. However, Wordpress is better in the sense that it has more advanced features such as Trackbacks and Categories. You can also manage your sidebar links more efficiently (more about this later).

Get a free blog at either Blogger or Wordpress. Then, familiarize yourself by posting your first post on your blog and tinkering around with the options and templates.

Blog content

Now we’re going to discuss the type of content that is suitable for your blog in order to make it profitable. First off, I want you to understand that there is no fixed scope that your blog should have, which means you can write about whatever you’re interested in.

However, the difference between a profitable blog and a non-profitable blog is the way the blog is written. Just imagine, would you prefer to read your university professor’s lecture notes or the latest novel by your favourite author?

You may prefer to read the novel because it appeals more to your interest, or because it is not as mind-numbing as the lecture notes by your professor. However, the most important point is people like to read “light” stuff most of the time. You see, when people log on to your blog, they are not only looking for information – they are also looking for information they can obtain easily, and better still in a relaxed manner.

So, to attract more visitors as well as to keep your current visitors coming back for more, it is very important to add a human touch to your blog posts. This can be done by simply imagining you’re talking about a certain topic with your personal friend. An extra bonus for your readers would be a great sense of humour, so try to add funny comments in your articles where they are suitable.

Another important key point is to avoid addressing your reader as a plural unit. What I really mean is you should not write as if you’re preparing a speech. Instead, you should write as if you’re having a conversation to a single person because this will make your visitor think of you more as a personal friend rather than a person of higher authority.

Besides that, it is also very useful to establish your own personality through your words. Human beings are very curious creatures, so naturally your visitors would want to know as much about you as the information you’re offering them.

Having a distinctive personality in your blog would make a world’s difference between your blog about gadgets and all the other blogs about gadgets out there. This is a lot like creating your own brand name, where people immediately remember your blog’s name when they need to find out information about gadgets, just like how people immediately think of McDonald’s for fastfood or Nike for sportswear.

So, the lesson for now is to simply write as an equal friend to your visitors, write to them as if you’re talking to a single person and establish your own personality on your blog.

Blog Content Brainstorming

Face the fact – your blog needs to be regularly updated to maintain its readership! Hence, you must always find fresh topics to write about, and we’re going to discuss how to do just that in this article.

We have discussed how to write attractively, so now we are going to discuss what we are going to write on. The very first option that I think a blogger should write on is a topic that he or she feels passionate and interested in. You can also login on to www.profit-pulling-toolbars.com. You’ve chosen to make blogging your career because you want to escape a mundane job – forcing yourself to write about something that you’re not interested in is as torturous as your mundane job!

The other reason I ask you to write about something you’re passionate about is because your feelings and emotion shows through your writings! If you feel indifferent to a certain subject but still write about it just for the sake of it, your readers will notice it. Remember the advice about writing with a personality? Forcing yourself to write will not establish a welcoming style at all.

Once you have chosen your main theme, start posting to your blog about it and make it a habit to post at least once every day, even if it’s only a comment on the newspaper article you read today. Think of yourself as a gigantic train. It takes a lot of effort to get you moving. First, you might just budge an inch, and later trudge slowly on until you finally reach your full speed. Then, it’ll take a lot of effort to stop you instead!

Zackery Lim asked:

Blogging for profits usually involve a blogging tool or platform. Blogger.com and Wordpress are two of the most popular ones. This article focus on using the former and why I do not think it is an ideal tool to use if you plan to make money blogging for the long term.

No doubt Blogger.com is a popular blogging platform which attracts thousands of people who want to start making blogs and post them on the net. However, for business savvy people, blogger may prove to be a liability instead of a tool for making money. For one, if you apply for a blogger account and use it to post affiliate links, sometimes blogger will detect these links as malicious, spam, or porn links and will automatically shut down your account. Blogger also posts your blogs to certain blog directories such as blogspot, where you cannot sell your blog or receive any earnings easily.

Google bought Blogger.com in 2003 in an anticipation of the rush of bloggers and blog posts and creation of new content. As such, Google created a different search tool called blog search. This search tool screens all blogs to its search domain, leaving other non-blog sites to be picked up by the normal Google search. In short, this means that you cannot create good back links and have a high ranking for your blogs in Google. Ultimately, blogger is not a reliable tool for search engine optimization.

Aside from these, blogger has limited plug-ins, themes, and add-ons compared to the likes of Wordpress. These perks improve your blogging experience and sometimes come in handy when posting blogs depending on your preference. Blogger may be free, but there are cases where Wordpress seems to surpass Blogger.com when you really want to earn money. Most blogging veterans do not recommend Blogger.com if earning money is the concern and would rather endorse Wordpress.

Another concern most bloggers have is the lack of control or rather the ownership of the blog. Since it is hosted on Blogger.com, you are basically building someone else’s website by adding unique content regularly. Yes, Blogger does allow you to redirect a domain to your blog but still you don’t own it.

That’s why Wordpress is much preferred because you can host it on your own server and as you build it up and attract more targeted traffic, your earnings potential will soar accordingly.

Alvin Phang asked:

Blogger is seriously a very popular platform to learn about blogging and talk about simple stuff you want online. However there are many things people are missing out if you are using a blogger account.

Here are my top 6 Reasons Why I Do Not Use Blogger

1. I Get My Account Closed 3 Weeks Because Of Affiliate Links

Note that if you have a blogger account and you tried to use it sell affiliate products from clickbank blogger will detect it sometimes as spam links or porn links and will shut down your account until you reply then to activate back your blog.

2. You Cannot Sell Your Blog Away

Do you noticed that most successful blogs online never use blogspot? The reason is because if you work really hard to bring tons of traffic to a blogspot blog, you will not be able to sell it away in the future with a .blogspot.com domain.

3. You cannot build good backlinks and ranking in Google

Although blogger is created by Google, most people create blogger account in hopes to get better ranking in Google. But Google know there are lots of people trying to do that to get ranking that is why now all blogs now appears only in a search called Blog Search.

Most blog post that are posted on blogspot appears there and also in Google searches but because your pagerank is determine by (something).blogspot.com . You may or may not getting good positioning on your SEO results. Even if you did.. there is a ignoring blogger bar on the top of your blog.

4. Why promote Google when you should be promoting yourself!

By having a blogger account, you are actually marketing not yourself but Google’s blogger. If you noticed why does Google have a bar right on top of your own blog always? They want to get more people to use the blogger interface in hopes you guys will use the Adsense at the same time to generate more revenue for them.

I am not saying that is not good but you should actually be promote your own domain rather then a blogspot domain.

5. Limited themes and plugins adds on

One major reason why I migrated to hosted Wordpress in just 3 weeks was partly I got my account closed plus I realized blogger do not have tons of themes to select from. There is way to actually change the design but you have to understand all the complicated theme codes to do that.

With wordpress, there are thousands of themes to choose from and also not forgetting all the powerful plugins you can add on to improve your blogging experience.

6. Professionals do not use blogger

If you are serious about making money online with blog, you noticed not a single one of them are using a blogspot account to do that. Why does that tell you?

I hope after you have read this article you would more or less got the idea why I do not recommend using blogger as your blog and should be using a hosted blog with wordpress installed.

Incase if you are wondering what I use. I use a simple hosting by Hostgator that is only US$9.95 per month and registered a domain for $7.95 to host my blog and of course using my Atomic Blogging System to blog.
